Job Description
As a Data Scientist II for Alexa Sensitive Content Intelligence, you will be a critical member of the team responsible for developing machine learning models and data-driven approaches to identify, mitigate, and manage sensitive content in Alexa's voice interactions. You will work on advanced AI/ML models, statistical methods, and large-scale data analytics to ensure that the content Alexa generates or responds to is safe, appropriate, and adheres to Amazon’s content guidelines.

Key Responsibility
- Design, build, and deploy machine learning models to detect and classify sensitive content in audio, text, and other formats in real-time.
- Develop algorithms and techniques for content moderation, focusing on identifying harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content.
- Train and fine-tune advanced NLP (Natural Language Processing) models, such as transformers (e.g., BERT, GPT), to improve the system's ability to detect and understand sensitive language.
- Implement deep learning models and reinforcement learning algorithms to enhance Alexa’s content filtering and classification.
- Work with large-scale, unstructured datasets to identify patterns and trends in content that may be classified as sensitive or harmful.
- Analyze user interactions and feedback to continuously improve the detection algorithms and understand evolving content patterns.
- Apply statistical techniques and data mining methods to uncover insights from massive voice data logs, helping improve content intelligence capabilities.
- Design and conduct A/B tests, controlled experiments, and model evaluations to validate the performance of content moderation solutions.
- Optimize models for scalability, latency, and real-time inference to ensure content filtering works seamlessly in live Alexa environments.
- Continuously monitor model performance, retrain models, and incorporate new data to improve accuracy and reduce false positives/negatives.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in Data Science or Machine Learning with a focus on NLP, AI, or content moderation.
- Strong proficiency in Python, R, or other programming languages commonly used in machine learning.
- Hands-on experience with popular ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar.
- Experience working with natural language processing (NLP) techniques and text-based data, including sentiment analysis, text classification, or entity recognition.
- Strong background in statistical analysis and data modeling.
- Proficiency with data manipulation and querying using SQL and experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Redshift).
- Solid understanding of deep learning and neural networks, specifically related to NLP models like transformers (e.g., BERT, T5, GPT).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in content moderation systems, ethics in AI, or risk management related to user-generated content.
- Experience working on real-time data pipelines and scalable machine learning models. Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Familiarity with audio processing, speech-to-text models, and voice data analytics.
- Knowledge of human-centered design and how to build AI systems that are interpretable, transparent, and safe for diverse populations.
- Strong experience in A/B testing, model evaluation, and experiment-driven development.
